Whitest Boy Alive: Keystone Festival Bar
Keystone Group - 23rd Jan, 2012
So Saturday saw the Berlin 4 piece Whitest Boy alive hit the Keystone Festival Bar and boy did they not disappoint.
The show was sold out in less than a day and for good reason as the Sydney contingent of their fan base was treated to a show that was an uplifting dance fest that was quite different to the laidback almost melancholic sounds you get from their records. Seeing them live added another dimension and the crowd responding accordingly.
The smaller venue made the gig much more intimate and ticket sales weren’t oversold so it wasn’t a scrum either. With 3 bars getting drinks was made easy and for those who wanted to shell out a few extra, an elevated VIP bar. It was the perfect mix, the skies had cleared for a nice cool evening, New Navy warmed the crowd up perfectly and the set was filled with all the favourites, a good dose of impromptu, and a smashing cover of “show me love” that rounded out the show perfectly.
The vibe was awesome, and testament to the quality of the night, rather than the mass exodus post show, everyone stuck around busting a move to a solid dj set that followed, enjoying a few final beverages, and enjoyed the general buzz left from one of the best live sets I’ve seen to date.
